While I am endlessly grateful that this room has everything needed to jot down, record, perform, rehearse, and exercise creative ideas, there's truly no point to these objects if the ideas won't come. When I encounter these blocked, depressive spells (especially with music-making) I try to look around the space I've constructed. I look for the various trinkets, drawings, and creative acts, which, despite their superficial disconnect towards anything music related, can unwittingly spark the so desperately wanted "new idea." I've come to understand that when I'm burnt out, without a clue for what ideas to pursue, develop, or even start, that calling upon other modes and memories of creativity help me find a way forward. If you find this theory to be true, that "singular" forms of art-making are indeed informed countless others, then by all means, peek around my room!
